I grew up in Arkansas. I haven’t lived there in years but my entire family is still there so I try to get back once or twice a year. I’m visiting this week and it’s so wonderful to see my family again. It’s the first time seeing them after they read the book I wrote about my life. It communicates very well the feelings I experienced and how it shaped me into the adult I am today. It has helped my family understand me a little better and has brought us closer. I’m thankful for that because life is short and I want to be able to enjoy every moment with my family, especially my mom, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2001. I don’t particularly care for the country but I am proud of my family and can appreciate the beautiful quiet of the woods and wide open spaces. Most of all, I appreciate growing up there and being taught country values that I was able to take with me into the world. I will likely take a few days off from posting as I enjoy time with my family. I’ve given you all a lot to think about since starting this blog so please email me your thoughts, or your story, or anything you’d like me to address in a future post. I’d love to hear your feedback! Thank you all for reading. Email: adopteesearchingforself@gmail.com
